Truby Jackson Sparks, 91, of Mullens, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, in Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, following a short illness.
Born April 6, 1918, in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Lacy and Edith Cook Jackson.
Mrs. Sparks was a member of Rock Castle Baptist Church. She was a former past member of the Eastern Star. Truby worked at the Pineville Fashion Shop, Coca-Cola bottling plant in Pineville, G.C. Murphy in Mullens and various other jobs. She enjoyed reading her Bible, talking on the phone and being with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Buell Sparks Sr.; an infant daughter, Jacquelyn Sparks; two brothers, Lonnie and Thurmond Jackson; a sister, Virginia Cook; and a son-in-law, John Jamerson.
Survivors include a son, Joe Sparks and his wife, Judy, of Pineville; a daughter, Patty Sue Jamerson of Gainesville, Fla.; two brothers, Raymond Jackson and his wife, Geraldine, of Pineville and Leroy Jackson and his wife, Hazel, of Rural Hall, NC; two sisters, Anna Lou Howard and her husband, Owen, and Vivian Lambert and her husband, Tracy, all of Gainesville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Charlene Jamerson, Bobby Sparks, Amy Sparks, Lana Anderson and Kim Jamerson; and five great-grandchildren, Jennifer Sparks, Tyler Short, Taylor Sutton, Joseph Sparks and Austin Anderson.
